Overtourism in India is causing significant harm to its natural and cultural heritage. Popular destinations face environmental degradation, with increased pollution and waste damaging ecosystems. Cultural erosion occurs as commercialization overshadows local traditions. Infrastructure is strained, leading to inadequate services for locals and tourists alike. Wildlife habitats are disturbed by excessive human activity, threatening species survival. Economic imbalance arises, with local communities often not reaping proportional benefits. Additionally, resource depletion from overuse of water and energy affects local access. Sustainable tourism practices and stricter regulations are needed to mitigate these adverse effects and preserve India’s heritage.
